The International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group (WBG), is looking to recruit the Environmental and Social Governance Specialist as a short-term consultant to work with the team to ensure delivering project`s objectives, and specifically related to Sustainable Financing, including climate risk management, sustainable strategy developing, disclosure and accounting, green projects development: climate smart agriculture projects, renewable energy production, energy efficiency, water and waste, green transport, etc. With respect to these initiatives the consultant will:

  • Lead delivery of ESG advisory service for financial institutions, communicate with senior management of FIs and provide solutions to ESG issues and proactively help clients improve standards and practices in the Sustainable Finance;
  • Lead discussions with clients for the successful implementation of assigned ESG advisory service, including diagnostic of the current practice and procedures, prepare and provide recommendations and action plans to implement ESG practice;
  • Develop materials related to the ESG practice, policy and procedures and case studies;
  • Support the development of the capacity of clients through organizing and delivery of trainings, workshops, and other capacity building activities;
  • Negotiate and draft project services agreements and cooperation agreements with key partners for the successful implementation of ESG advisory service;
  • Develop research papers, reports, brochures, presentations, training, and promotional materials to promote ESG practice and Sustainable Finance;
  • In cooperation with the other team members and consultants prepare training materials for financial institutions on the specifics of Climate/Green technologies implementation and Sustainable finance including ESG issues;
  • Work with the other team members and consultants, undertake research, gathering statistics, and contributing to studies to develop climate change projects;
  • Perform other duties, such as presentation and training of the above programs and others as requested by the Program Manager.

Special Terms & Conditions/Specific Criteria

  • Degree in Economy or Climate/Environmental Studies with focus on ESG, E&S, climate change or related field;
  • Excellent command of English;
  • It is desirable to have some experience in climate/green projects with private industry, financial institutions or developmental agency;
  • It is desirable to understand climate change policy framework, structure, key stakeholders and market players, climate risk management;
  • Excellent research and writing skills;
  • Good understanding of the global climate change agenda and climate change impact;
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills;
  • Strong editing, formatting, and designing skills;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Understanding of the green projects and its specifics will be a strong plus;
  • Ability to work flexibly and under deadline pressure at times on a range of assignments, and adjust to and prioritize a variety of complex evolving tasks;
  • Ability to provide administrative, communications, and research support to the team;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent written/communication skills in English are essential.
