USAID Kosovo Compete Activity

STATEMENT OF WORK

Description of Project:

The USAID Kosovo Compete Activity is a five-year project implemented by Cardno that aims to promote resilient, self-sustaining market systems, and facilitate the private sector’s improved competitiveness in local, regional, and global markets. The USAID Kosovo Compete Activity works to empower firms, organizations, and institutions to improve market systems in three key export-oriented sectors (Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), Wood processing, and Food processing) and sustainably increase their competitiveness. By working to address constraints across the system, USAID Compete will enable scalable and systemic change to occur, stimulating job creation and the  private sector’s increased ability to engage in local, regional, and international markets. The expected results of the Activity across all three sectors are 1) market systems are strengthened to increase sector competitiveness and 2) market actors within those market systems are more productive and competitive.

Background of the assignment

USAID Kosovo Compete Activity (“USAID Compete”) focuses its intervention logic on supporting key actors in the market systems of its focus sectors to provide more sustainable services. Part of USAID Compete’s goals are also provision of support to the improvement of the functions of the main industry associations in its focus sectors.

This assignment relates to intended support for the Association of Wood Processors of Kosovo (AWPK) to improve its social media and digital marketing presence. The assignment seeks to improve the AWPK’s capacities to promote the work of the wood processing sector, through a more coherent social media and digital marketing approach.

To that effect, the USAID-funded Compete activity in Kosovo is seeking a Digital Marketing and Social Media Expert (hereinafter referred to as “Expert”).

General Responsibilities 

The Expert is tasked with delivering on the following:

1.     Conduct brief assessment of the current social media/digital presence of AWPK.

2.     Suppport the development of a digital promotion and social media roadmap for AWPK.

3.     Support AWPK to initiate digital marketing promotion with concrete activities and provide needed training to AWPK staff on digital marketing promotion and development of relevant materials.

4.     Prepare and deliver presentations and relevant training for the members of the wood processing sector on techniques and ways of greater use of social media, and improving connection of all members of the Association in those platforms.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

The specific tasks of the Expert are as follows:

1.     Conduct brief assessment of current digital presence  of  AWPK.

  • Organize a meeting with AWPK and other relevant businesses from the wood sector to analyze the digital marketing presence in the wood sector of the Association and companies in the sector.
  • Draft key findings on current gaps and key findings on the way forward.

2.     Support the development of digital promotion and social media roadmap for AWPK.

  • Define overall digital marketing goals and intended outcomes for AWPK.
  • Facilitate and support the process of AWPK membership in architonic.com (i.e. to improve product sales in the global market for the sector’s export-oriented companies).
  • Support AWPK to develop an adequate digital presence in all main social media plaftforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram,  LinkedIn and Pinterest)

3.     Support AWPK to initiate digital marketing promotion with concrete activities and provide needed training to AWPK staff on digital marketing promotion and development of relevant materials.

  • Implement key activities to populate and structure social media and digital content for the Association.
  • Provide needed training to AWPK staff on digital marketing promotion and development of relevant materials.

4.     Prepare presentations for the members of the wood sector on the outcomes of activities.

  • Deliver presentations and relevant trainings for the AWPK and to its members on techniques and ways of greater use of social media, and improving connection of all members of the Association in those platforms.
    Deliverables, Outputs, and Outcomes

The main outputs and deliverables for this position are:

  • Current gap assessment of AWPK’s social media and digital presence of AWPK and key findings on the way forward.
  • Increase presence and improve content of AWPK on key social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest)
  • On-the-job coaching delivered to AWPK to maintain such social media and digital presence in the future.

Minimum Education Requirement

Relevant University Degree

Minimum Professional Experience

  • Demonstrated experience with social media promotion and digital marketing.
  • Experience with generating social media and marketing content using relevant design tools.
  • Experience supporting private sector clients.
  • Experience supporting donor-funded projects.
  • Experience supporting industry associations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the wood processing sector is not essential, but desirable.
  • Ability to motivate teams and induce positive change.

Period of Performance

August 2021 –  October 2021

Level of Effort

Up to 25 working days.

The expert will be reimbursed based the submission of a monthly timesheet and log of activities for the month.

Reporting

The Expert is required to provide frequent weekly updates to USAID Compete activity on the progress of the implementation of tasks under this scope of work.

Wood Processing Sector Lead and Supporting Business Environment Expert.
