American Councils is happy to share a paid professional development opportunity for high school teachers from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia!

If you speak English at an advanced level and you are a high school teacher from these countries AND you have time to commit to learning, contributing, teaching others and becoming part of a regional media literacy themed network - please fill in your data below by November 5, 2021.

Participating teachers are expected to attend a series of trainings and meetings (15 hours total, November and December 2021), and to deliver trainings and provide mentoring (8 to 10 hours total, January and February 2022) to university students who would then teach high school students - who are final beneficiaries of the curriculum co-created by participating teachers and American Councils. After the end of their engagement each teacher will receive 665 EUR honorarium (gross, which means the final amount to be transferred will depend on the tax policy of the country individual teachers are from).

Participating teachers will work together with the American Councils Media Literacy Specialist to develop a Western Balkans focused curriculum which would allow youth audiences to disclose and prevent disinformation, falsified information and propaganda through examination of news discourses, media agenda, infotainment phenomena, public/private interests in media, film, and music etc. Participating teachers are also expected to help American Councils spread the word about the program and also help recruit high school students in their communities to participate in final media literacy trainings. All these trainings will take place online.
